FAQsWhat books are published under the name Kate Bitters?
Currently, I have two books in print: Elmer Left and Ten Thousand Lines. Elmer Left is a work of literary fiction about an old man who runs away from home and Ten Thousand Lines is a character-focused dystopian novel. What is your author website? The official website for Kate Bitters is www.katebitters.com Why did you decide to write under two names? Children's literature is quite different from adult literature. I wanted to create a separation between my two literary worlds so I could write freely in each and not compromise my writing style. I also wanted to make sure that when children searched for the name Kate Leibfried, they would come up with only wholesome, kid-friendly results. In my Kate Bitters novels, I occasionally use rough language or adult themes (such as substance abuse.). What is the writing style of Kate Bitters? My novels are greatly influenced by authors such as Toni Morrison, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, and Neil Gaiman who write in the style of magic realism. They are stories filled with vivid imagery and toe the line between the real world and the fantastic. Do you prefer writing novels or children's books? Do I have to choose? Both styles have their merits, although my first love was novel-writing. Sometimes, however, I get frustrated by some of the tedium that comes with writing a full-length novel. For instance, Ten Thousand Lines has been a three-year journey of writing, re-writing, editing, proofreading, and re-writing again. So it goes... How can we connect? Oh, you know, the social media.
